Our History

The Circle Grill was originally opened in 1946 by the Evans and Wise families. In 1999, the Evans family retired and sold the restaurant to Sam and Kathy Vergos. After years of dedication, Sam and Kathy have now retired, passing the legacy to our new owner, Rebar AlMissouri, his family, and business partner Bjar Amedi.

Meet Our Owner

Rebar AlMissouri hails from Duhok, Kurdistan, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Salahaddin University in 1995. He worked with the Kurdistan Reconstruction Organization (KRO) and the U.S. Army to rebuild infrastructure in Northern Iraq.

In 1996, the U.S. government relocated many Kurdish and Iraqi citizens, including Rebar and his family. Their journey started at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam, where Rebar volunteered as a teacher and translator for the U.S. Military. In 1997, they settled in Boulder, Colorado, beginning a new chapter in their lives.

By 2006, Rebar was working with the U.S. Army in North Carolina as a Bilingual/Bicultural Advisor, helping train U.S. citizens for overseas missions. Over the years, he also built a wonderful family with his wife and three children.

The Circle Grill Connection

After two decades as an engineer, Rebar had a dream to build a hotel. However, after dining at the Circle Grill, he fell in love with the restaurant’s history and charm. Instead of building something new, he decided to preserve this beloved establishment.

Sam and Kathy were looking to retire, and Rebar arrived at the perfect time to continue the tradition started by the Evans family over 70 years ago.
